First of all, I would like to say, thank you for having me here.
If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future? It’s funny you ask this question. I’m currently finishing GOLD FEVER, the third book in The Apple Grove Gang series. The gang travels through time and there are some really exciting things that they tackle. Personally, I would love to go back in time. I think I was born about 100 years too late.
If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you? 1) A barrel of Wonton soup from Chen’s Cantonese Restaurant.(You have to try it to understand!) 2) Sunscreen, because I burn-blister-peel! 3) Reruns of Gilligan’s Island. They seemed to live pretty well, perhaps I could learn a few things from them.
If you were a superhero what would your name be? It just so happens that I am Captain Jack Flack! Dabny Coleman played a character by that name in a great movie. When my daughters were little, I used to ‘fly’ the car on trips, and I used that name, as the ‘pilot’. They’re older now, but if they happen to be in the car…Captain Jack Flack just might show up!
If you could have any superpower what would you choose? My superpower is an unlimited amount of coolness under pressure!
What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? I love butter pecan.
What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? Biscuits and gravy, but not just any though. There is an art to making it right.
Night owl, or early bird? That is a good question! I’m both. Sometimes I’m up until 1-2am and then back up at 5:30am. I’ve found that I can survive on very little sleep.
One food you would never eat? Cow brains. That mad cow thing still lingers in the back of my mind.
What inspired you to want to become a writer? Last Christmas I bought myself a Nook. The first book I downloaded was free. I read it and wrote an e-mail to the author. We exchanged a few e-mails, and she suggested that I should write a book. I am currently finishing my third. I have learned so much just by watching what she does, and I consider her a true friend.
Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published. As a new author, just about every experience is rewarding. An interview, like this one, is an awesome experience. Being asked to do a guest blog is incredible. Seeing my book posted on a website still takes my breath away, but I would have to say though, hearing from readers is the most rewarding thing.
If you could jump in to a book, and live in that world.. which would it be? Without hesitation, 11/22/63 by Stephen King.
What’s one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors? Start writing now!
If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be? I would pick anywhere on the equator. I need at least 12 hours of direct sunlight every day. I’m not a fan of gloomy weather.
What is your favorite Quote. I will gladly pay you Tuesday, for a hamburger, today. J. Wellington Wimpy, from the cartoon Popeye
Who are your favorite authors of all time? Mitchell, Hemmingway, Koontz, King, Forster
How do you react to a bad review? I’m sorry, did you say something. LOL I try to learn from them and improve my product.
If you were a super hero what would your kryptonite be? Broccoli, ugh!
Give us a glimpse into a typical day in your day starting when you wake up till you lie down again. I’m up at 5:30. I watch the news and check Twitter, make a few tweets, etc. I check e-mail, and see how many books I’ve sold. Then I have breakfast, and I’m out the door at 7:20. I drop my daughter at school and make it to my day job by 8:30. At noon, I take lunch at an internet cafe. I check Twitter, e-mail, trying to keep the ball rolling. I’m off at 5:00pm, get home at 5:30, I cook dinner for my wife and daughter. By 6:30, I’m writing. Some social media and correspondence is intermingled. Around 10:30pm I work on marketing and do other housekeeping relative to my books. I usually finish about 1:30am. Then off for a good night’s sleep.
What’s your favorite season/weather? I love summer. Long days and lots to do outside.
Finish the sentence- one book I wish I had written is….Harry Potter…sold 500,000,000 copies, I think.
Favorite places to travel? I enjoy China and Hong Kong very much. The people and the food are fabulous. The Middle East has always been a great travel destination, over the years.
Favorite music? I love music from the ‘70’s. Peter Frampton, Fleetwood Mac, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton
